Testing, testing, 1,2,3…

Now that the goody bags have been won, we will be featuring the two successful testers every month. So while our goody bag winners – announced on the testers page – get testing and reviewing; here’s what two of our army of pre-launch testing mums thought of the products they tested.

Boots Time Delay anti-ageing wrinkle, £10.99

yummyness rating

I quite liked this product at first. It had a light creamy texture which was very easy to apply and absorbed really well. However, and it is quite a big however, it did leave my face looking a bit shiny and then my skin was left feeling like I had just got out of a very hot shower. Not the best look or feeling! Overall, I wasn’t that impressed and stopped using it pretty quickly. From Boots.

Clarins Daily Energiser Cream-Gel, £27

yummyness rating

I absolutely loved this product. It was light, easily absorbed and left my skin feeling refreshed all day. Once applied, it didn’t leave my face looking shiny as the Boots one did and within one week, my skin was noticeably softer and healthier looking. It also had a lovely fresh smell. All in all, I really enjoyed using this product and will feel rather sad when the pot has finished. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone with dry skin like mine. It’s on my Santa List. www.uk.clarins.com

Clarins Hydra Quench Tinted Moisturiser, £19.50

yummyness rating

I have to admit I am not generally a fan of tinted moisturiser. Probably more due to my inability to apply it properly rather than any fault with the actual product. However I was very pleasantly surprised with this product. It was very easy to apply to get a good even coverage (something I usually struggle with). It did not look grainy or false, but give me a rather healthy glow (which could come in handy after a few too many wines the night before). This is definitely something I would consider using more often in the future. www.uk.clarins.com

The Organic Pharmacy Self Tan, £22

yummyness rating There are lots of things to like about this one.  It’s free from artificial gunk, creamy, doesn’t smell ghastly and is easily absorbed into the skin.  All good so far… So, I tried it on one leg (I know, I know, but you know how it is) and the next day my eldest daughter said: “Mummy it looks like one of your legs has been to Italy!” It does give an even, rich colour but it’s just a bit too orange for me.  www.theorganicpharmacy.com

L’Occitane Precious cream, £39.99

yummyness rating

This cream looks and smells like it belongs in a pristine, white bathroom with just a sprig of your own dried lavender sitting on the window sill.  I’ve been neglecting my skin quite a bit and Precious Cream rights that wrong.  It is a joy to apply as it absorbs easily, reduces redness and doesn’t make my combo skin at all shiny.  Happy skin in one simple step; achieving pristine bathroom could be harder. Decleor’s Double Radiance, £39.99

yummyness rating

A double pump dispenser of double radiance cream led me to wonder what double radiance actually is. The thicker of the two creams has a slightly unusual smell that I’m not keen on but after a couple of uses, my skin felt wonderfully soft and had a real glow to it. I actually looked in the mirror the other day and said, “Damn, you look good.” Husband was walking past and thought I was saying it to him, so we were both happy… could this be double radiance? www.decleor.com
