Good news for Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer will be included in its symptoms awareness programme, Be Clear on Cancer.
This is a hugely important development and one that we believe will genuinely save lives. Currently only three per cent of UK women are very confident of spotting a symptom of ovarian cancer. By raising awareness of symptoms, the Department of Health aim to improve early diagnosis, and save the lives of at least 500 women a year.
As you know, this is something that Target Ovarian Cancer has been campaigning for since the beginning.
A spokesman said: “We’re also extremely grateful to the APPG on ovarian cancer, which has been instrumental in securing this progress, with members taking up the challenge to grow support within parliament. They held a debate last autumn, and subsequently met with the Care Services Minister Paul Burstow MP.
“Indeed he chose the AGM of the group to announce that ovarian cancer was now being included in the Be Clear on Cancer programme. Three initial pilot campaigns will take place in cancer networks, early in 2013, and it is then hoped that the campaign can be escalated to a regional and then national level.”
Mother of all awards for Lucy
Child’s i is a small charity making a real difference to the lives of abandoned babies and vulnerable mothers in Uganda and we are delighted to congratulate the charity’s founder, Lucy Buck, who has just been named Clarin’s Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year 2012.
All Trilogy’s profits from the sale of Helping Hand Wash throughout 2012 will be donated to Child’s i Foundation and the campaign is on track to reach its fundraising target of $30,000 NZD (£15,000) over the 12 months.
Funds raised will be used to pay for the salaries and expenses of six incredible social workers who reintegrate children safely back into their families or into adoptive families within six months of entering care. This essential support ensures that children don’t start their young lives in institutional care, thereby giving them a chance to thrive in life and fulfil their full potential in a family.
Helping Hand Wash combines the natural antibacterial properties of Elderberry and Burdock with natural vegetable oils in an effective, low foaming liquid soap. With Trilogy’s signature fragrance of frankincense, rose geranium and lavender, the luxurious creamy texture leaves hands feeling deliciously soft and clean. Trilogy Helping Hand Wash, £13.50 (300ml).
