Beauty award for a yummymummybeauty favourite

Weleda was thrilled to pick up a prestigious CEW Eco Beauty Award for the Pomegranate Firming Facial Care range.

This award recognises a beauty product or product line that has most significantly moved towards the goal of true sustainability.

The objective of the Eco Award is to encourage steps towards greater sustainability within the beauty industry.

To ensure no ‘greenwashing’, this particular award was independently judged on science-based sustainability principles which are promoted by The Natural Step, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to sustainable development.

Brands needed to demonstrate their effort, achievement and commitment in four specific steps towards true sustainability.

So well done to this fabulous brand. We’re fans – but it’s nice to know we know a winner when we see it.

Don’t get a tanning – soothe skin for summer

We all know that sun damage is the biggest cause of premature ageing… But in a recent survey by sensitive skin experts Eau Thermale Avène, 55 per cent of us in the UK admit to suffering with sun damaged skin, with 54 per cent agreeing that this has an impact on their psychological well-being and 30 per cent recognising that pigmentation makes us look older or less attractive.

To prevent premature ageing and pigmentation Cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Sam Bunting, says: “Sun avoidance is crucial; a diet rich in antioxidants may also be beneficial, as is applying topical antioxidants.”
