A word on the nasties
1. Parabens – recently been found in breast cancer tumours
2. Petrochemicals – can have a negative effect on hormones, reduce the skin’s ability to breathe, slow down cell renewal and may be responsible for premature aging.
3. Synthetic Colours and Fragrances – can be irritating to the skin, and the ingredients within them may cause violent coughing, vomiting, cancer, nerve damage etc.
4. Sodium Lauryl / Laureth Sulphates – this popularly used foaming agent can cause eye irritation, even blindness, hair loss as well as degenerating cell membranes, change genetic information and damage the immune system.
5. Alcohol – when synthetically generated it is carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic.
6. Lanolin – this ‘wool fat’ produced by animal sebaceous glands, widely cause allergens in people.
7. DEA, MEA, TEA – hormone disrupting chemicals.
8. PEGs – can cause allergic reactions, and can form dioxane a carcinogen and a by product
9. Benzoates – this anti microbial preservative has been linked to numerous health problems including asthma and eczema.
10. GM ingredients – associated with various serious potential health dangers.
11. Talc – Linked with ovarian cancers and respiratory complications.
12. Propylene Glycol – Commonly used in skin and body products, as well as aircraft de-icing fluid. Large quantities can cause nausea, convulsions and slurred speech.
